Quality guidance also matters: lighting, camera angle, unobstructed faces, clean fingerprint capture, and clear retry paths all improve match rates without forcing unnecessary abandonment.
Identity data needs authoritative integrations and strong handling
Biometric workflows are most defensible when they connect to authoritative sources such as Home Affairs for ID verification and biometric matching, and where needed CIPC or other registries for representative or business checks.
Because biometric data is sensitive, the platform also needs encryption in transit and at rest, limited retention, access control, explicit consent handling, and a strong audit trail for every verification attempt and outcome.
Security and user experience have to be designed together
A production-ready biometric KYC flow has to defend against photo attacks, replayed videos, masks, and deepfakes while still giving legitimate users clear instructions, quality feedback, and alternative paths when capture fails.
That balance is what separates a workable digital onboarding journey from a security layer that creates drop-off without delivering enough certainty in return.
